There’s no better feeling than checking the mail and seeing you’ve got a package. Since the pandemic started, I’ve been invested in discovering the best new makeup and skincare products, both online and in person. Buying individual products is fun, but the surprise and mystery of subscription boxes is the best part for me. I’ve previously subscribed to Ipsy and BoxyCharm, so I decided to give the Allure Beauty Box a go. After all, beauty journalism was invented at Allure. If you’re on the fence about subscribing and aren’t sure if it’s worth the money, keep reading for answers to all your questions.
- Six or more beauty products valued at $100+
You’ll get a selection of editor-approved makeup, skincare, haircare, fragrance products from brands you know and love, plus some of the new kids on the block. Of the 6+ products in each monthly box, at least three will always be full-size products and in total will be valued at a minimum of $100. Sometimes Allure will include one or two bonus products from well-known brands as an added gift. When it comes to makeup subscription boxes I like the surprise factor, but if suspense isn’t your thing Allure newsletter subscribers get a sneak peek each month.
- $23 billed monthly
- Prepay $60 for 3 months
- Prepay $250 for 12 months
How it works: When you sign up for your first box, you’ll be billed on that same day. All future orders will be billed in the first week of every month. If you sign up for an annual subscription, your membership will renew on the 13th month of your original purchase. Once you’re an active subscriber, you can expect to be billed in the first week of each month. That month’s box ships approximately 7 to 10 days after you are billed.
Note: If you sign up at the end of the month, it is likely that you will be charged for your second box before you receive your first box.
- For new subscribers, the box should arrive within 10 days after sign up.
- For active subscribers the box will ship within 10 days from the time the order is processed.
Shipping is free for all customers in the contiguous U.S. If orders are heading to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, there will be a $5 cost for shipping and handling.
You can end your subscription at any time by reaching out to customer service by phone or email. Be sure to cancel by the last day of the month to avoid being charged for next month’s box; for example, you’ll need to cancel on or before April 30 to avoid a charge for the May box.
After reviewing the first box, I say yes, yes, yes. I was blown away seeing miniature sizes of luxury, expensive products that I didn’t think I’d ever get to try. It was a mix of all kinds of items for every part of your routine, even a delicious-smelling hair scrub for the shower (my personal favorite from the box). The box is definitely worth it for the price.
Final Verdict: In my personal opinion, out of Allure, Ipsy and BoxyCharm, I choose Allure to curate the crème de la crème of up-and-coming products, delivered right to my door. Allure often runs special promotions where your first box could be as cheap at $13! I appreciated getting the mini Cetaphil cleanser, which is actually my favorite cleanser! I like to take a small bottle of it with me when I travel. The Eyeko Sharpener was the perfect complement to the Eyeko cream eyeshadows, which flatter all skin tones.
Here’s everything I received in the March 2022 Allure Beauty Box:
Treatments: Alpha-H Liquid Gold Exfoliating Treatment, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (mini size), Shani Darden Retinol Reform (mini size), Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream (mini size), NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Shine Clarifying Scalp Scrub (mini size)
