We Tried ColourPop’s New Hocus Pocus Makeup Collection and It’s Scary Good

Here at Wishlisted, we live for the Halloween movie Hocus Pocus. Now that October is here, we finally have a good excuse to watch it on repeat and sing along to the devilish charms of Winnie, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson. Cult-favorite ColourPop released a makeup line inspired by the three iconic witches last year and blessed us with yet another one this year. I decided to splurge on the entire collection, and it finally arrived in the mail!

Hocus Pocus themed makeup collection

Get ready to put a spell on everyone you meet with these killer cosmetics. And yes, for those who haven’t heard, Hocus Pocus 2 will be hitting Disney+ in fall 2022 – the sistaaaaahs are back!

First up in the Coven Crew collection is the Witching Hour Eyeshadow Palette. The 12-pan palette is full of sinister shades in neutrals, oranges, golds, blues, and purples in both matte and metallic finishes. They had more fallout than I thought they would in the pan itself, but I found the actual blending not messy at all. Catchy color names include “300 Years,” “Hello, Billy,” “Circle of Salt,” and “Green Newt.” I’m 100% ready for the next full moon.

Bubble, bubble, toil, and trouble! The Trouble Brewing eyeshadow kit features ColourPop’s iconic crème to powder formula. “Forever Bewitching” is a violet plummy shade, “Dost Thou Comprehend” is a warm gold, and “To Be Young & Beautiful Again” is a golden nude. The bouncy texture delivers a serious payoff with only a swipe.

I’m a sucker for a dark lip color. Get a perfect pout with the Let Me Work My Magic liquid lipstick set. The new Fresh Kiss Lip Crémes have a matte, creamy finish and ensure spellbinding application. “Hello, Boys” (named after Sarah) is the blackest black, “Calming Circle” (named after Mary) is a light nude, and “Tonight We Fly” (named after Winnie) is a rich plum. These combine the pigment of a lipstick with the nourishment of a balm.

Being a cat owner, this is probably the thing I’m most excited about. The I Shall Always Be With You Mirror is in honor of everyone’s favorite black cat, Binx. It’s got his famous last words emblazoned in shiny orange print and has adorable ears at the top so you can gaze at your spooky reflection in style. Hey, you can’t help that you’re cursed with such beauty.

I have a major fear of spiders, but this stamp pen is too cute to pass up. The QT Mark Face Stamp is long-wearing, matte, and adds a tiny touch of flair with only one press. It’s party-proof and Halloween-proof (and everyday-proof; you don’t need a haunting holiday as an excuse to use it). Be careful when applying this, as you need to press lightly, or it looks like a big black blob near your eye. ColourPop also has stamp pens in heart, star, and moon designs and an adorable freckle pen.

Last in the collection is something to set the scene and add ambiance when you’re experimenting with your new makeup. This is one Black Flame Candle you’ll be glad to light! It’s chestnut-scented with a gorgeous starry design similar to the Binx black cat mirror. Something wicked this way comes…
