Picture this: you’re back in the office a few days a week after being fully remote during the pandemic, and packing a lunch has become an unfamiliar concept. What’s a bagged meal compared to the whole of your kitchen available 24/7? You’re running out the door, grabbing whatever leftovers you’ve got on hand and some snacks to go along with it. This means your lunch/dinner may not be the healthiest, but hey, it’s fast! Daily Harvest will become your go-to if you want to make a change.
Daily Harvest is a subscription service that delivers easy-to-make, healthy superfoods straight to your door. Chock full of fruits and veggies, the meals are designed to fit easily into your freezer and your life. Frozen food often gets a bad rep, but don’t let that scare you away–the company says 95% of the ingredients used are organic. In addition, they always choose organic ingredients that appear on the Environmental Working Group’s “dirty dozen” list, AKA pesticide-intensive fruits and vegetables: strawberries, spinach, nectarines, apples, grapes, peaches, cherries, pears, tomatoes, celery, potatoes, and bell peppers.
“Everything we make is built on organic fruits and vegetables and crafted into delicious food that is actually good for you,” the company says on its website. “We’re frozen for a reason—because our method means more nutrients, better flavor, and food that keeps up with the pace of your life. And—when you’re juggling way more than you think you can, or taking the night off—our food is delivered to you and ready in minutes.”
Here’s how it works. You create a plan that best fits your routine – either a weekly or monthly delivery option – and you can choose the box size and recipe selection. A small box includes nine items, a medium box includes 14 and a large one has 24. When it comes to the menu, you’ve got a whole host of foods to choose from, all designed to integrate seamlessly into your routine: smoothies, milk (stylized as “mylk“), harvest bowls, flatbreads, soups, forager bowls, oat bowls, chia bowls, scoops, bites, and lattes. The meals don’t contain any dairy, gluten, fillers, harmful oils, or anything artificial. You can find in-depth nutritional information on each item’s description page. An added bonus? The packaging is recyclable, and most of it is even home compostable. Reducing our carbon footprint is always a good thing.
The boxes always include enough dry ice to keep them frozen for one to two days after your scheduled delivery, so you don’t have to worry if you cannot make it home that night to unpack. Daily Harvest currently delivers to 95% of the continental U.S. and is working on expanding its delivery region. You can click here to enter your zip code and see if you’re eligible to place an order.
