A healthy lifestyle can mean different things to different people. From sticking to a consistent self-care ritual to finding nutritious alternatives to your favorite comfort foods or committing to a consistent exercise regimen.

I recently made the decision to live a healthier, fitness-driven lifestyle. Motivated by my upcoming wedding and a serious quarantine funk, I was ready to get back on track! It helped that I was doing it with my awesome fiancé, so if you can take this journey with a buddy I highly recommend it, but more on that later. It’s important to note, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to what a “healthy lifestyle” looks like. This is what worked for me and helped me feel like my best self and hopefully you’ll find something in here that helps you too!

Find The Right Workout Routine

My first step was to find a workout routine that I could stick to and be excited about. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been a big fan of the gym. Mainly because I didn’t know what the heck I was doing! I grew up as a dancer, so I strive on structure, an encouraging instructor and classmates that helped me push myself. I’ve done Pure Barre in the past and LOVED it, but this time around I wanted something more.

After some research (and my fiancé trying it out first), I chose Orangetheory Fitness and am already seeing amazing results! (Shout out to my OTF fam!). Orangetheory is unlike any other fitness program I’ve been a part of. In just one 60-minute class you’ll go through three circuits all targeting different areas of focus. Rowing to improve endurance, strength and power, cardio to get your heart rate up and blood flowing, and Strength training that targets different muscles to help you become a stronger you!

Nourish My Goals with The Right Supplements

To help capitalize on all the hard work I was doing in my Orange Theory classes, I also wanted to find the right supplements to support my muscle gain and growth. Like I mentioned before, I started this journey with my AMAZING fiancé. We had been talking about joining a gym for ever and just hadn’t found the right fit. He ended up taking the first Orange Theory class and was so obsessed with it that I had to try for myself. It wasn’t long before I was hooked! I won’t lie, some days I really don’t want to workout, but when I get that mid-day text, “You ready for this workout?!” it’s hard not to get excited.

An accountability buddy can truly transform the way you look at a workout, meal plan and more, because like the name says they hold you accountable and vice versa!

Stick to a Meal Plan

When starting a fitness plan, food is just as important as your exercise routine! While I do truly love vegetables, I love pasta even more which is why it was important for me to find a healthy balance between food that brings me comfort and food that gives me the nutrients my body needs!

Now as someone who loves cooking, finding recipes and making them was fun, but I know that’s not the case for everyone. Luckily, there are so many great meal kits to choose from! One that stands out from a clean, healthy eating standpoint is Gobble. Gobble sends meals that are fully prepped (read: chopped, diced and marinated) and take just 15 minutes to cook! I’m not sure they could make it any easier if they tried.

Don’t Forget to Treat Yourself!

Eating right, exercising and just taking care of yourself is a full time job in itself (adulting, am I right?). Which is why you still deserve to treat yourself every once in awhile! I’m the first to admit, I have a hard time doing things for myself that are outside of the norm. The last “treat” I subscribed to was actually for my fur babies, but the excitement from getting their BarkBox monthly is worth it!
