Grab your makeup bags, you’re in for a treat! We recently told you about Target adding reservations in time for the busy holiday season, and now the company is giving us one more reason to fill our carts to the brim. Ulta, the makeup chain loved by beauty enthusiasts of all ages, will be setting up shop at select Target locations in 2021. Yes, you read that right — mini Ulta locations will be popping up at Bullseye stores around the U.S. for a brand-new kind of beauty experience. This is one of many exciting partnerships announced by Target (BRB, time to sip a Starbucks Frappuccino while browsing the dollar section). Just last year, the company unveiled mini Disney shops at 25 locations across the country. It just keeps getting better and better.
“We couldn’t be happier about bringing these two trusted brands together to redefine retail beauty experiences,” said Brian Cornell, Target’s chairman and CEO, in a prepared statement. “This matchup brings Ulta Beauty’s coveted prestige beauty assortment, category expertise and guest loyalty together with Target’s high-growth beauty business and the ease and convenience of our industry-leading fulfillment services.”
The Ulta Beauty at Target “shop-in-shop” setup will include current products stocked at Ulta that you know and love, plus a new collection of emerging prestige brands, so you have even more to look forward to. Each will be located near that Target store’s existing beauty section and feature a wide floor plan for comfortable shopping — approximately 1,000 square feet of retail space — with Ulta’s signature hues of pink and orange everywhere you turn.
“More than ever before, now is the time for innovation in retail,” said Mary Dillon, CEO of Ulta Beauty, in another prepared statement. “…we are thrilled to bring our beauty expertise, unparalleled assortment and digital innovation to life in a new channel to delight and deepen loyalty with our existing guests and introduce Ulta Beauty to new guests.”
Target is working to add more personalized services to the mini shops, too, such as “GLAMLab,” Ulta’s virtual try-on tool so you can test out potential purchases and make sure they’re the perfect match (literally). You’ll never buy the wrong foundation shade again. If you’re looking for specific answers about products, team members working at these locations will be trained to provide recommendations and expertise, just like at full-fledged Ulta stores.
For those who prefer to shop skincare and cosmetics from the comfort of their own homes, Target says it’s bringing a fun and interactive experience to its website and app. Those who shop online can snag free shipping for qualifying orders, along with Drive Up, Order Pickup and Shipt same-day delivery at participating locations.
The mini Ultas will be coming to 100 Target stores during the second half of next year, and here’s the best part — both companies are planning to open hundreds of more locations in the future. Keep an eye on Target and Ulta’s social media accounts, as more news about this exciting partnership will be coming soon.
